Wow 2020 is finally hindsight and true to the saying I am already seeing things for homeschooling in 2020 vision. When I look back at all I have learned while trying to ensure my kids are learning it has been a lot. I started the year very optimistic that homeschool would be a breeze. My Daughter is 1st grade age I enrolled her in a distance learning program by the county. 2 months into it we were spending our days rushing threw old blackboard style power points and to the bain of my existence I was scanning pages and uploading them 5 to 6 a day. It was busy work and no one was learning or having a good time. I talked with the mother of my daughters best friend from school they too decided to keep their child home for safety. They had bought a packet corse and where doing what they want as they wanted and seem to be learning good. I decide to follow pursuit I didn't purchase the same course instead I decide to give a company IXL.com a chance and for $19 a month I have access to all the interactive course work my daughter needs. I also added a education.com membership and the kids love the games on it. We start our days with videos on youtube from a Ms. Monica. If you don't know she does a daily circle time and it's a great started and saves me from going batty repeating days of the week everyday. An example of what our days have become: Breakfast Ms. Monica circle time Worksheet math or reading Math, Science and reading on IXL.com Lunch break Reading 1st readers Vocab flash cards education.com education game islands Math, Reading, Typing My daughter will also play some piano We don't do all this everyday but it's a good example We also have a friday educational project that is messy and hands on. Recess / outside time is different hot days we try to get out before its hot or after it's cooled and winter is during the warm sunny time so days a shaped around what we do not what we have to do. As much as I try to keep a monday to Friday schedule I also truly enjoy the freedom to do things anytime and not be stuck to a 9-5 routine.

I have been rehabbing a house then listing it for rent. After that I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled 2 weeks after that in October my daughter broke her leg at school and was out till January. Just when everything was getting good me and my husband celebrated our anniversary on Valentines day and then preceded to begin work on Moon Lake out farmstead/ personal retreat. Fast forward we are camping for spring break week we come back to learn school is out and the world has stopped. YES we where NOT prepared. As most people do I had cleaned out most food in the house knowing we would be away for a week. So I come home to a empty house and 3 teachers sending work home for my kids so between having kids home, working on the computer (writing my next book) it has been crazy. But one great part in all this is I have had a lot of days with just my kids.
Tip 1 to survive Pick 4- 5 activities each day write them in order and then do them. It's great to get the kids involved in the picking of actives and in what order they will happen. Tip 2 Keep the routine. If you normally get up get dressed and send the kids to school then you should do the same get up, change your clothes, do your hair and then begin the day. If your doing home school it's great to have a area that is the "school zone" do school work in that space and leave it when the "school day " is done. Tip 3 Lunch - Simple but many of us have been use to not having to make lunch and it is easy to forget but if you know your kids lunch time taking a break at the same time will do a lot towards keeping them goal oriented. Tip 4 Recess - Following the lunch tip if you know the time they had recess it's good to have a play time at the same time. Finally Just enjoy this is a rear time to be with your kids, see how they are growing and also they will remember this for there whole lives. My daughter Ellie is in her 1st week of school at Mayport Elementary Coastal Science Academy. I am very happy with the school she is wearing a uniform. I was so surprised she needed a uniform I had bought a ton of clothes for school and then had to mad dash the last 3 days. I found out Friday and needed the clothed by Monday. So Amazon 2 day to the rescue and this is not a advertisement. I am just honestly happy with the clothes I got. The clothes where all 100% cotton form amazon basics they have a whole collection of uniform clothes. In Ellie's size they have shorts and skorts available in navy or khaki and tops of all styles and colors for school. For under $100 I was able to get 2x shorts, 3x skort, 3x tights, 5x shirts and 1 jumper.
Other then the uniform she has a great campus plus Breakfast and Lunch are provide for all students another amazing bonus to this great school. Ellie is at school right now for her 3 day I look forward to getting her and hearing how it went.
